Answers to your questions
How should I treat my bag to keep it beautiful?
Your RODTNES item does not require a lot of care and maintenance. However, natural leather will change over time - it will become softer and the surface may become worn. However - contrary to artificial materials - natural leather can be treated and refreshed - just like you treat a good pair of leather shoes.
We recommend that you follow a few simple care instructions in order to keep your RODTNES bag beautiful and functioning for a long time. Read our care instructions here.
In which stores can I buy RODTNES bags?
It is not possible to buy a RODTNES bag in any store, and the reason why, requires a little bit of explanation: We make products in very high quality, and sell them at very reasonable prices. Actually, we sell them at a 50% lower price than we would have to, if we sold them through retailers, provided free return shipping or had a showroom. The only way we can make products in this quality at these prices is because we cut away everything that would add extra costs to our products. This means that you cannot find RODTNES bags in any store, and that you need to accept an online-only interaction with our brand. (for any inquiries contact us here: info@rodtnesbags.com)
However, this is also the reason that we’re able to offer you supreme quality bags at very reasonable price. And we promise that we do our best to make this online-only interaction as smooth and pleasant as possible 🤍 Read more about our concept here.
Can I buy a gift card for RODTNES?
Yes, you can. RODTNES gift cards are available on demand and can be issued in any amount you wish. Each gift card is beautifully presented in a black envelope, and includes a unique discount code that can be used in our webshop for the chosen value. A simple and elegant way to give the gift of RODTNES craftsmanship. To order a gift card, please contact us at info@rodtnesbags.com.
How can I specify a parcel shop for delivery?
In countries where parcel shop delivery is available, you can select your preferred parcel shop during the final step of checkout after payment. If no parcel shop is selected, your order will be delivered to the parcel shop closest to your address.
In countries where parcel shop delivery is not available, your order will be delivered directly to your home address.
Where can I get my bag repaired?
If you need your bag repaired, we recommend that you contact a good shoemaker, who can also repair leather bags. If you do not have a good shoemaker in your town, we recommend Sten’s Skomageri in Aarhus, who receive and send repair jobs within Denmark. Contact Sten Røhl at skomageri@skomageri.dk or telephone +45 8625 0999.
Worn edges and corners can be repaired easily at home with a leather repair treatment.
Can I pick up or return my purchase personally?
Our bags are stored in a warehouse, where they pack and ship all orders. It is not possible for them to welcome and serve visitors, and the only way to purchase, receive and return a RODTNES bag is by ordering it online and receiving or returning the order by courier or mail. (Read more about why, in question 3.)
Do you ship to countries outside of the EU?
Yes, we also ship to Switzerland and Norway. NB. Please note that any applicable import duties, VAT, and local sales taxes will be charged in addition to the product price and are payable upon receipt. Please note that these duties and taxes are non-refundable through RODTNES.
Are RODTNES bags made of real leather?
Yes, all RODTNES bags are crafted from 100% natural, premium-quality calfskin leather. The grained surface appears through a specialized treatment - a type of “washing” process - that causes the leather to shrink, allowing the hide’s natural grain to emerge. This results in a rich, thick, and structured leather with depth and character.
Because the grain is entirely natural, subtle variations will appear across the hide. Some areas may show a slightly more pronounced grain than others - an inherent quality of authentic, high-grade leather.
ABOUT LEATHER PRODUCTION
Our method for achieving a grained surface is fundamentally different from that of most other brands. The most common approach is embossing, where an artificial grain pattern is pressed onto a flat, smooth hide. Before embossing, the hide is stretched to increase its size, a process that removes its natural structure. The artificial grain applied afterward conceals marks, scars, and natural variation, resulting in a completely uniform appearance.
We take the opposite approach. By shrinking the leather rather than stretching it, we preserve and enhance the hide’s original structure. This process highlights the natural grain instead of replacing it. The visible variation in the leather of a RODTNES bag is a testament to its quality - leather treated to reveal its true character, not disguise it.
